How to Successfully Implement a Rebrand in Your Business

Writer: Laura DiSanzaLaura DiSanza

So, you’ve decided you’re ready for a rebrand in your business (yay!).

Here are ALL the things I want you to know so your rebrand is successful. And not like your last Fiverr purchase that left you underwhelmed.

The basics of rebranding your business

A rebrand is a complete overhaul of any existing branding you currently have. (If you have zero branding established, you would be in need of branding. Not rebranding).

It’s a fresh, brand identity for your business.

A new brand design and strategy that’s aligned to the visions of your future.

You’ll get a new logo suite, color palette, fonts, typography, visual imagery, and more. To signal to your clients and community that you’ve reached a new level of business.

Cheers!

Signs you need a rebrand

There’s no rule for when you need a rebrand. It could be after being in business for 3 months, or 3 years. It’s really up to you.

You’ll know you’re ready for a rebrand when “the shifts” appear. (That’s what happened with my own personal rebrand. More on that later in this blog post!).

Maybe you want to change your offers or services. Maybe you want to serve a particular industry or niche (or avoid one). Maybe your old branding doesn’t feel like you anymore.

Those are all valid reasons for a rebrand. And you’ve got options.

Should you rebrand or do a refresh? What’s the difference?

When you’re researching which brand designer to work with, the topic of a full rebrand vs a refresh should come up. Your brand designer will help you decide which option is best for you.

A rebrand is perfect if you:

  • Are changing your services

  • Are shifting who you work with or want to attract as potential clients

  • Want to represent the growth you’ve experienced as a business owner

  • Are looking towards a new chapter

  • And don’t feel like your current brand design and strategy represents you

A refresh is perfect if you:

  • Are keeping the overall essence of your business the same

  • Are attracting your target audience

  • Want to update your branding a little bit

  • Are looking towards a new chapter

  • And want your audience to still recognize your branding

Both rebranding options are fully customizable. Your business isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, and your branding shouldn’t be either.

What to expect during your rebrand

Part of what makes a rebrand successful is knowing what to expect. And the brand questionnaire is where we’ll start.

You’ll be asked questions like…

  • What’s your current branding look like? What do you like and dislike about it?

  • What target market or ideal client do you want to attract with your new branding?

  • What’s your unique selling point? Why does your ideal client work with you?

  • What visuals are you drawn to for your brand?

  • What’s the branding of your competitors like? What do you like or dislike about it? Do you see any opportunity gaps you can capitalize on?

  • What adjectives do you want associated with your brand and business?

  • How do you want your ideal client to feel after they work with you?

After taking inventory of your brand and business, it’s time for the fun part.

Your logo suite will be redesigned. Your font styles and color palette will be updated.

New icons and imagery will be mixed in. It’s the ultimate glow-up.

Once your rebrand is complete, you’ll receive your “Brand Guidelines” book. (If you’re curious what I’m talking about, check out this reel here).

How to use your brand guidelines

I’m the type of brand designer who doesn’t believe in gatekeeping.

I give you access to all your brand assets AND I teach you exactly how to use them correctly.  So you are in control of your business (not your brand designer).

Your brand guidelines are the instruction manual for your brand design.

You’ll learn how and where to use the different variations in your logo suite (and yes, you do need more than one logo ... here’s why).

You’ll learn about the primary colors, accent colors, and neutrals of your color palette. (Did you know certain color combos make things easier or harder to read? Now you know).

You’ll learn why your brand has different font styles and where to use them. You’ll learn how to identify visuals for your brand that match the strategy. And more.

Your brand guidelines book is seriously so juicy.

A real example of a successful rebrand

I know, I know. Now you’re wondering if you can see proof of a successful rebrand.

Let’s take at the zesty rebrand of yours truly, DiSanza Digital.

After four years in business, a thought kept returning to me. “You should rebrand.”

I was more confident in myself and what I offered as a business owner. So I did what any smart business owner does… I put the rebrand on my wish list of things to do in the future.

Now that I’m on the other side, I wish I rebranded sooner.

I’m finally attracting my dream client. I don't have to weed out the clients who aren't ready for me. Or the clients I don't want to work with.

My books are full! I was ashamed to admit I was struggling with that before my rebrand.

I’m excited to show up on socials and create content. I know my visuals look professional, memorable, and represent me.

And I don’t cringe when someone asks for my website. It looks bright and bubbly thanks to a rebrand.

Now? My business reflects who I truly am and attracts my dream client.  And I want the same for you.

If you’re wondering if investing in a rebrand is worthwhile for your business, 1000% yes.

Your branding should be something you’re excited about. It should attract your dream client. And you should feel confident implementing it.
